Dear All,
I would like to invite my parents to US on B2-visa. Both of my parents of Indian passports. But the problem is one character is misspelled in their last name in comparison to what is in my passport and other documents. For example, my parents last name mentioned in my passport is "Mukherjee" and in their passport it is spelled as "Mukharjee". Now, I wonder if they have to get it corrected to apply for VISA interview or there any other ways to get around with this issue. I am completely lost and literally confused to whom to ask and where to find this information. I really appreciate any kind of help.
Thanks & Regards,
Srini

It is good to get the mistake corrected. If the mistake is in your passport possibilities are there for you to convince the officer with some other evidences. but if the mistake is on their passport, it need to be corrected for sure as that will create problems while there are differences in name in the documents of wealth establishing ties and passport. In any case it is good to get the mistake corrected.
