K-1 Visa Checklist

Please submit the following documents to this office as soon as possible.  Where feasible, kindly provide ORIGINAL documents and one copy.  The originals will be returned to you promptly and will NOT be submitted to INS.  Submit as many items below as possible:

  1. Copy of sponsor/petitioner’s U.S. passport (all pages) or certified copy of birth certificate, if born in the U.S., or naturalization/citizenship certificate, if born abroad.
  2. Certified copy of beneficiary’s birth certificate and translation.
  3. 2 Photographs of both of you per instructions attached.
  4. Photographs of both of you taken within the last two years.  (Please label them as to date and place taken and names of any other persons in photograph).
  5. Correspondence between both of you, if any, including envelopes.
  6. Phone bills showing calls to one another.
  7. Airline tickets and boarding passes from trips to visit each other or trips taken together.
  8. Evidence of joint property/ownership:
    1. __ bank account statements
    2. __ personal property receipts (if purchases)
    3. __ auto pink slips or auto payment stubs
    4. __ lease or deed to home (or mortgage/rental receipts)
    5. __ stocks, bonds, mutual fund accounts, etc.
  9. Evidence of insurance coverage (joint or reciprocal showing one of you as the beneficiary of the other’s policy):
    1. __ life insurance
    2. __ medical, dental insurance
    3. __ auto, homeowners
  10. Evidence of wedding plans, if any:
    1. __ affidavit or letter from clergy/judge who will marry you or who has provided pre-marital counseling
    2. __ receipts for deposits made toward wedding facilities, clothing, food, flowers, photographs, etc.
    3. __ sample invitations
  11. Affidavits from friends or relatives who have met your fiancé(e), have seen you both together, and who are aware of the bona fides of the impending marriage.
  12. Other—anything else relevant to show that you both have met in person and intend to marry for reasons other than for immigration purposes.

Certified copies and translations of termination of all prior marriages for either person (death certificates or divorce decrees).

Certified copies and translations of birth certificates of children born of both of you.
